We can beat anyone at home – Smith’s warning for leaders Fulham

The Swans are set to face their toughest home test of the season tomorrow when runaway league leaders Fulham arrive at the Swansea.com stadium as we go in search of a third successive league win.

Saturday’s impressive win over Coventry gave the Swans a good win to follow up an impressive away win at West Brom and now it is just the matter of the league leaders to overcome.

Fulham will arrive in SA1 with an eleven point gap at the top of the table and an attack that has plundered 84 goals already this season at a rate of almost 2.5 per game.ย  ย That will be enough to test any defence although the Swans should be confident with just the one goal conceded in their back to back wins.

Russell Martin will be forced into changes with Cyrus Christie ineligible against his parent club and could revert to a flat back four for the game although the inclusion of Joel Latibeaudiere at wing back is the most likely scenario to replace the hugely impressive Christie.

Martin faced a similar issue on Saturday when Hannes Wolf was ruled out of the win over Coventry due to Covid and Korey Smith deputised for him in the left wing back position as the Swans secured a 3-1 win.

It was a result that has clearly upped confidence in the Swans side with home form a key part to Russell Martin – the Swans have taken 12 of the last 15 points available at home.

That statistic is something that Smith believes is key and he thinks the Swans can beat anyone on their home patch – a warning for Fulham that they will not arrive here and have things all their own way.

“We feel that on our day we can beat anyone,โ€ Smith told the official site.

โ€œIt is great to have the fans behind us and I think they can really see what we are trying to do and hopefully they are enjoying it.”

Smith is also likely to feature again against Fulham with Wolf still absent although he could find – depending on what Martin chooses to do – he is in a more familiar midfield berth.

The game against Fulham kicks off tomorrow (Tuesday) at 7.45pm
