Morgan Whittaker – It’s a shame my Lincoln time is coming to an end

Morgan Whittaker was a man who left the Swans in the January transfer window and it is clear that just over three months on he is loving life in League One and has dropped the first hints that he would be happy to stay at Lincoln at the end of his loan spell.

Morgan has scored five goals since making the switch to Sincil Bank including three in his last two appearances – the first of which saw him red carded in the win over Charlton at the Valley.ย  ย When you add in the hat-trick against Plymouth for us earlier in the season – the first Swans hat-trick for over 10 years – and you have a good return for the youngster that the Swans signed in the closing stages of the January 2021 transfer window.

There have been many calls for Whittaker to have a run of time in the Swans team but given the fact that Piroe, Obafemi and Paterson have close to 40 league goals between them that run of form seems to be further away now than it ever was and that could open a door to a departure for Whittaker this summer.

Talking about his time at Lincoln, Whittaker told their official siteย โ€œI thought for my career, it would be best to have a run of games and when you do that you realise the mix of emotions that come with playing every week.

โ€œYou have to learn to deal with that and understand every game is not going to go your way and thatโ€™s fine because I know Iโ€™m developing as a player and learning how to be better in games so itโ€™s all been a positive.

โ€œComing back from Charlton, my aim was to try and get a goal a game and I had a good start last weekend, so I just want to finish the season as strongly as possible for myself and for the team.

โ€œI came here to score goals and I have five now which I am happy with. Itโ€™s been a perfect response since the Charlton match and I feel like Iโ€™m learning League One, itโ€™s just a shame itโ€™s coming to an end soon.โ€
