Stephen Martin to referee Swansea City v QPR

Stephen Martin will be the man in the middle for the Swans last league game of the season on Saturday when they face QPR at the Swansea.com stadium.

After starting refereeing in 2003, Martin ran his first line in an EFL match in 2007 after quickly progressing through the ranks.

He underwent a rapid rise which saw him appointed to the EFL assistant referee list in 2008 and to the National League referee list in the same year.ย  After four years he became an EFL referee and has taken charge of more than 200 games.

As part of the PGMO exchange programme, Steve visited Japan in 2013 where he refereed three J-League games.

This will be Martin’s second gameย  refereeing the Swans this season – he was the man with the whistle when we lost 1-0 to Blackpool in March.

Martin was of course the referee who angered Newcastle fans so much at a previous game that they took to Twitter to share their displeasure with him directly – unfortunately they caught the actor Steve Martin who took to Twitter to reply โ€œEvidently, thereโ€™s someone whoโ€™s a bad referee with my name, and now there are thousands of English who wonโ€™t go see my films anymore.โ€
