Joel Piroe in new Watford link

Joel Piroe is the subject of an enquiry from Championship club Watford as speculation continues over the Dutchman’s future in South Wales.

It had been suggested that Leicester City were interested in the former PSV striker but there was never anything concrete to suggest that Brendan Rodgers was tempted to move for the 24 goal forward.

With the summer transfer window now in full swing Watford are the latest team to be credited with interest by the usually reliable Athletic.

The Hornets sold Cucho Hernandez yesterday to the MLS and also saw Andre Gray leave on a free transfer this summer leaving them short in the forward line for next season’s promotion race.

Russell Martin and the club have made it clear that they will not let Piroe – or any of the star men – leave on the cheap and it’s understood it would take an eight figure sum to allow him to leave.

Troy Parrott has been rumoured as a potential signing up front but one would think this would only happen should Piroe or Michael Obafemi leave for pastures new.

Whether Piroe’s final destination is Watford, I’m not so sure…
