The name of Cody Drameh has been somewhat forgotten by Swans fans the longer the window went on with the belief that the Premier League side only wanted to sell the player which would place him outside of the Swans reach.
However, it has been suggested by several sources over the past day or so that there could be a final twist to this speculation this window with two clear possibilities being outlined.
The first of those is in line with a report we first made at the start of August with the news that the Swans remained hopeful of securing a move for Drameh with the possibility of their desire for a permanent move being ‘downgraded’ to a loan move should no permanent suitors be found.
With just four days left of the window this is now looking an increasingly likely possibility, something which will prick the ears of those at Swansea to see if they can secure a loan move.
Leeds United club ambassador and former striker Noel Whelan believes that a loan would be good for the defender as he told Football Insider โI think if heโs not going to be used by Jesse Marsch, he may well feel a loan is better for his progression and therefore better for Leeds United.
โThereโs no point keeping him around if heโs not playing. You get to a point where Under-23 football just isnโt enough anymore โ and weโve already seen the likes of Charlie Cresswell going out to the Championship.
โIf Marsch [is] considering another loan, then itโs in Dramehโs best interests โ and the best interests of the club, because he could well come back a better player.โ
The second possibility seems a little more stretched but is gathering some speculation momentum with the suggestion being that a permanent deal could be on the cards with Leeds supposedly interested in Joel Piroe.
The Swans have long since signposted their desire to sell last season’s top scorer and are ready for late offers to come in.ย ย Of course late offers can present challenges when looking at a replacement and that has alerted some sources to the possibility of a cash plus player exchange for Piroe.
The striker will be valued by the Swans higher than Leeds value Drameh which would mean additional money in the Swans coffers although it is not known in this situation how much, if any, would be available to Russell Martin if it unfolds this way.
To many a move for Drameh will still seem exceptionally unlikely but sources close to Leeds are certainly suggesting that he will be on the move from Elland Road at some stage this week.ย ย Whether that is on the permanent move they desire or a loan move remains to be seen but the Swans are very much interested in the player who shone so well up the M4 at Cardiff last season.
Russell Martin is known to be in the market for a wing back and Drameh is certainly the kind of player who can add a much needed boost to a squad that currently sits in the relegation places.
Leeds interest in Piroe is largely unconfirmed but they do want a back up striker to Patrick Bamford and Piroe’s goal tally last season has certainly attracted Premier League interest so don’t fully rule out a player plus cash move from Leeds.
Many strange things can happen in the last week of a window – this could just be one of them!
