This morning’s press links the Swans with a potential loan move for Leeds United striker Joe Gelhardt who signed for the Premier League side back in August 2020.
The Athletic report the interest but cite the Swans as one of several clubs keen to consider Gelhardt for a loan move with speculation that Leeds boss Jesse Marsch could let the player leave on loan during this window.
Gelhardt has featured in fourteen Premier League games for Leeds this season but has made just 6 starts for the club since completing his move more than two years ago.
It has also been suggested that Leeds could be open to a permanent move if the price was right but given their current league position it is widely believed that a loan move is the most likely of the outcomes in January.
Gelhardt’s time was looking limited back in the summer but he is playing an active part in the squad at Leeds although local journalists have questioned whether he will ever be a regular starter for the club and also questioned his fitness and reliability.
Overall this would feel like a good move for the Swans although it should be remembered that just eight of Gelhardt’s fifty-three league appearances have been as a starter.
