The Daily Record reported yesterday evening that Glasgow Rangers were set to make a third bid for Swans forward Morgan Whittaker – the first two bids having been turned down in the last week.
Whittaker was the most notable absentee from yesterday’s 1-1 draw at QPR after it was stated by Swans boss Russell Martin that he would be involved in the squad at Loftus Road.
Of course had Whittaker been involved – and played – then any move in the January window would be fruitless due to his loan spell at Plymouth, a loan spell he was recalled from earlier this month.
Speaking after the 1-1 draw at QPR, Martin said “I did the press conference and received a text from Morgs saying he wasn’t in the right frame of mind to travel with the squad, for a number of reasons. The situation hasn’t changed, we haven’t received any more bids from anyone. We have to respect that and be conscious he’s a young man in a difficult moment.”
Rangers boss Michael Beale was not to be drawn last night on his pursuit of Whittaker.ย Speaking after his side’s cup win over St Johnstone he simply said โThere will be some news in the coming days. None for you right now but there will be some news in the coming days.”
However, with the Daily Record reporting a third bid it is anticipated now that this could be the one that tips the Swans into acceptance and the Whittaker move could be on.
