Whether the Swans were genuinely interested or whether it was a media/agent link we will never know but yesterday’s reports suggest that Liverpool are not prepared to sanction a loan move for Calvin Ramsay this window.

Having secured his services in a ยฃ6.5m move from Aberdeen back in the summer it was suggested at the weekend that both the Swans and Watford were keen on signing Ramsay on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old has endured a difficult first season at Liverpool after what was his record breaking move from Aberdeen – a record fee received by the former Scottish Champions.

The talented teenager has made just two first-team appearances for Kloppโ€™s side. He made a brief cameo against Napoli in the Champions League before making his full debut in the Carabao Cup victory over Derby County.

Ramsay is yet to make his Premier League debut for the Reds and has only been named to the substitutes bench once (versus Tottenham on November 6).

However, TEAMtalk has learnt that Liverpool boss Klopp has ruled out a loan move for the right-back and wants to keep him at Anfield.

Klopp wants to keep Ramsay in his first-team plans for the second half of the season and feels that avenue is best for the playerโ€™s long-term development.

The report concludes that any loan approaches for Ramsay will be rejected.
