Swansea City target two loan signings

Swansea City are still confident of bringing in new faces before the transfer window closes and have their sights set on two loan signings that they are hopeful of securing a deal for before the window ends.

It has been a pretty quiet window for the Swans to date with a few departures but no incomings unless you can count the recall of Morgan Whittaker from his loan spell at Plymouth Argyle.ย  ย And even that is reported to end in a departure with Rangers circling around the player to add him to Ibrox.

This morning’s news that Burnley appear to have agreed a fee for Michael Obafemi could trigger some further activity in the market with Chiedozie Ogbene the obvious target that the Swans could turn to on a permanent deal.

On top of that though they have identified at least two loan signings that they would like to bring into the club within the next few days both designed to add strength in depth where it is needed.

The Swans have been linked with numerous loan signings this window but as yet have yet to secure on.ย  ย Recent loan signings have not always been the success that we would like to see with the likes of Rhys Williams, Finley Burns, Finley Stevens and Armstrong Oko-Flex failing to gain regular football in their time in SA1.ย  ย On the flip side Cyrus Christie and Hannes Wolf worked very well for us in the second half of last season and Luke Cundle has certainly played some good football in his time in the first team whilst on loan here.

The Swans are definitely in the market for a goalkeeper following the injury to Steven Benda and whilst they have missed out on Karl Darlow there are other target names on the list, one of which should be completed before the end of the window.

The obvious other option is a right back with Cody Drameh being linked several times over the past couple of windows.ย  However with a reported medical at Luton and interest from Cardiff, any movement here is unlikely.

What previous windows have taught us though is that we are capable of doing business completely out of left field.ย  Christie and Wolf told us that and it is certainly people that maybe have a pedigree close to that then someone like Burns or Stevens who just aren’t ready to assist us where we need it at the moment.

The key thing though is that we remain very active in the market and we can expect at least two loan signings as a minimum before the window is out.
