The Swans appear to have completed their first signing of the summer with the arrival of left winger Josh Ginnelly from Hearts.

The move was revealed by Keith Downie from Sky Sports who said that there had been offers from four other Championship clubs plus Maccabi Tel Aviv.

The striker, 26, left the Jambos at the end of the season despite the club offering him fresh terms on a new deal to remain at Tynecastle. Manager Frank McAvoy and Steven Naismith hoped to hold onto the player who managed 13 goals last term.

Hearts confirmed yesterday that the player would not return after he missed the first day of pre-season training – today the reasons for that become clear!

In a social media post, Ginnelly described Hearts as an “amazing club” that “helped me through one of the toghest times of my career” because of injuries.

But had earlier stated that “he has decided his future lies elsewhere”.

“Ginnelly will not be returning to the club,” Hearts said on their website. “Despite the club making the best possible offers to retain his services.”

There are several good things about this transfer, one of which is clearly it has come out of the blue which does suggest that the aims of Andy Coleman and Paul Watson to plug some of the leaks at the club have started to pay dividends.
