“Significant” – Coleman again reiterates statement of investment

Andy Coleman was using the word “significant” again yesterday when he talked about his investment into the club and how he believed that this was important given his day to day role and the moving of his family to South West Wales.

The difficulty of the significant investment is that it does not appear to have been registered at companies house which is leading most Swans fans to assume that the investment is into the LLC and therefore not directly into the club.

The initial thoughts upon arrival was that Coleman was to be a significant investor in his own right and stand alongside Nigel Morris and the (soon to be confirmed) Brett Cravatt as the new(er) guard here at Swansea City.

That may of course still be the case but without evidence of the investment it is difficult to know despite most of the public noises from Coleman being the right sound bites to suggest to Swansea fans that he may have the right plan to develop the club as we would want although we have to dispute his comments about being about football all his life…

Ultimately that is probably more important to Swans fans than any investment into the shareholding of the club although clarity on constant public statements of significant investment would always be good given our natural curious state of the ownership position of the club and a healthy dose of cynicism never hurt anyone!

โ€œThe best way for this organisation to be run is to have someone with a significant stake in the club here โ€“ with a deep background in business and experience in football โ€“ helping to lead Swansea City so decisions can be made quickly,โ€ said Coleman.

โ€œThe hope is that this allows us to move much more efficiently, quickly and smartly moving forward.”

Those three words are probably not words used often in the past few years when considering club ownership which is why the sound bites sound good in the main.ย  ย After a slightly shaky start Coleman appears to have progressed nicely with the appointments of the likes of Duff, Watson and two signings this week and it is clear that he has a drive to move the club forward although he was quick to stress that we can only do that if we are all united together behind that drive.

โ€œEvery business I have been associated with has had one philosophy behind it. It is one team and one goal.

โ€œWe need every single person inside this organisation to be aligned with our fundamental principle, which is that we want people to be empowered to be the best versions of themselves they can be. That is how Swansea succeeds, on and off the field.

โ€œI understand that talk is cheap, and I have learned that through my background. My father would always say to me, โ€˜Andy, donโ€™t tell me what you are going to do, show me what youโ€™ve doneโ€™.

โ€œI think the key for me now is not to talk too much, but to do things, and the first thing I can do to show my commitment to this football club and this community โ€“ the people who will be my neighbours and friends โ€“ is by moving my family here.

โ€œI donโ€™t think I ever expected that I was going to be picking my family up and moving them across the Atlantic to Swansea, but it is such a special community, and the people have been fantastic.

โ€œMy family could not be more excited to join me, they have been over with me before, my kids think a Joeโ€™s ice cream is the greatest thing in the world, so they certainly are looking forward to it.โ€

His love of Joe’s ice-cream may not be enough to drive the club forward alone but his plan and vision is definitely there but for now we echo his words that actions really do speak louder than words and on those actions will be how Andy Coleman is judged.ย  ย Over to you Andy.

  1. Better interview .Said all the right things .Ultimately everything depends on actions . Next 6 or 7 weeks will tell us all we need to know

  2. Just returned from a break in Belfast where the welcome is huge and genuinely friendly, and their show of love for favoured sons of the city’s proud football heritage included proudly Rodgers, DUFF, as well as BEST and Jennings. The admiration for links across to our own city ang region, and especially our shared Celtic breed, and especially our proud use of our own language, was shared by all parts of their community, Michael Duff is someone to be very proud of in their eyes too!

  3. Same old Yanky Bullshit, sell and buy cheap. 20 goal striker on his way out and possibly Grimes and four others will follow. Same old “Swans Missout on Target” Same old babble, no commitment to bring in real talent. Look for free and lower leauge players. Yanky Losers should leave our club.

  4. Lets all be positive Chaps! The Owners 100% are at fault for letting Russell Martin & Co slip away….another Class act following on from Potter and Cooper.
That done…Lets get behind Michael Duff and team….Next few weeks are critical for so many with decisions where individuals will end up playing !
I personally am looking forward to celebrating with a SIMPSONS t shirt brandishing DUFF Beer to celebrate the mighty SWANS taking the Championship by storm….first 6 games of course critical !
