The name of Mykola Kukharevych may not have been high on the radar of many Swans fans in the past but it could be a name we have to get in our heads with news that he could well be heading to Swansea as we continue building ahead of the new season.

It has been a busy weekend so far in Swansea with news earlier today that Harrison Ashby and Carl Rushworth were both coming to Swansea and then we had the name of Kristian Pedersen added to the list of soon to be new arrivals.

Michael Duff confirmed this evening that three players were booked in for a medical on Monday and news now suggests that a fourth may not be too far behind with Kukharevych our target up front.

Any signing of him would certainly signal the end in SA1 for Joel Piroe – something we have anticipated all summer anyway – but 22-year old Kukharevych could prove to be a more than worthy replacement.

Kukharevych is a product of the Volyn Lutsk sportive school system and he was promoted tp the Ukranian Premier League with Ruk Lviv before a transfer to Anderlecht was agreed and ready to be announced in January 2021.ย  ย That announcement never happened and he joined Troyes AC in July of that year.ย  ย He spent last season on loan in Scotland at Hibs where he scored 5 goals despite missing some of the season due to a media ligament injury.

Just a few days back it was reported that the Scottish side had not given up hope of bringing him back to Easter Road however interest from other clubs – which we now know includes the Swans – made that look unlikely.ย  Girona and Polish champions Rakรณw Czฤ™stochowa were both said to be interested.

Kukharevych is under contract at Troyes until summer 2026, but after his parent club were relegated to Ligue 2 at the end of last season and the striker has admitted he wants to play at a higher level than the French Second Division.

And that level looks like it could well be the Championship and SA1.
