It looks like Port Vale may have beaten Northampton Town and Shrewsbury Town for the signature of Josh Thomas who is set to exit the Swansea.com Stadium on a loan deal for the new season.
Highly rated within SA1, Thomas was a regular scorer in the early pre-season games but the arrivals of Jerry Yates and Mykola Kuharevich will see his time limited within the club and the Swans are keen to see the next stage of his development take place with regular football.
Interest was revealed earlier this week that the three EFL clubs were all showing a desire to be the club that delivered that development along with Hearts and Livingston from North of the border.
Thomas is in the last year of his contract at Swansea but the club are thought to be keen to trigger the extension that could see it extended to 2025 given his recent form and the development he has shown in his time at the club.ย As well as good pre-season form, Thomas rounded off last season with a hat-trick as the Under-21st put ten past Birmingham in their final fixture
Twelve months playing regular football will tell us much about how that development continues so a loan move away from the club makes perfect sense and we will watch his development with interest.
