Harrison Ashby has been confirmed as a Swansea City player after a busy week that saw him complete a medical and train with the club for three days which will set him ready for a debut at the Swansea.com stadium on Saturday.

Ashby will go straight into the Swans squad for the visit of Birmingham on Saturday after the Swans put him through his paces in training Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday after his medical was completed Monday afternoon.

Ashby was the third player referred to by Michael Duff as going through a medical on Monday alongside Mykola Kuharevich and Carl Rushworth both of whom were both confirmed as signings on Monday.

All three are now expected to play a part when the season kicks off for us on Saturday with Rushworth and Ashby both expected to start the game following their embedding into the squad this week.ย  ย Kukarevich is likely to start on the bench with Piroe and Yates expected to take the places up front as Michael Duff prepares for his first competitive game in charge of the Swans.

Much has been written about Ashby in the move to this being confirmed as a completed deal starting when the news first broke last month that the Swans were chasing the player.ย  ย Newcastle were keen that he completed their pre-season tour before he arrived in SA1 and he did play a part in that tour as well as pre-season games before they departed for the States.ย  ย It was before that tour that a deal was verbally agreed to bring him to the Swansea.com Stadium for the season ahead no doubt helped by the relationship between Michael Duff and Kieran Tripper.

After they returned last weekend the finer details of the move were confirmed and Ashby has spent the past few days in Swansea training with the squad following completion of his medical.

Ashby is expected to provide some width on the right hand side for Swansea and Michael Duff will hope that he will provide the ammunition for his forward line.

Welcome to Swansea, Harrison!
