Swansea City v Coventry City – The managers look ahead

The Swans and Coventry City will meet in the latest Championship clash of the season tomorrow with Michael Duff in search of a first league win and Mark Robins wanting to continue the excellent form his side produced in last week’s win over Middlesbrough.

With returns to SA1 for Jake Bidwell and Joel Latibeaudiere then the game has an added interest and it was Lati that joined the Coventry boss when answering the questions from the Sky Blues press ahead of the game.

Whilst Duff talked about extra “zip” with the ball ahead of the game, Robins was looking ahead to an “interesting” game and facing “one of the best players in the division” in Joel Piroe.

Duff saidย โ€œFootball is not a case of ABC, it will take time. We have had changing faces on and off the field, that is not an excuse, that is just a fact,โ€ said Duff.

โ€œNo-one is trying to kid anyone, we know we have been a bit too slow and passive with the ball, we have not hurt teams enough.

โ€œWe have to tidy up in terms of set-pieces against us, and play with a bit more zip with the ball.”

Whilst Robins said “Joel Piroe is still there and, you know, for me, he’s one of the top players in the division, so they’ve done well to hold on to him.

โ€œThey’ve got some talent throughout. Matt Grimes is a really good player from the deep position in midfield and they’ve got some good players who know this system really well.

โ€œThey will change and can flip to a different formation. They went to a back four last season and they’ve done similarly this season already.

โ€œIt’s a good game and always a good game against them because they’ve got some really good footballers and tactically, it’ll be it’ll be really interesting.โ€
