Patino set for Swans start after impressive debut

Charlie Patino, the midfielder on loan from Arsenal, is set for a Swans starting spot today when Coventry City are the visitors to the Swansea.com Stadium.

Having now trained with the squad for the best part of two weeks and making an impact last weekend as a substitute then Patino is expected to make a start today at the expense of Ollie Cooper with Duff set to go for a familiar line up outside of that change.

New signing Nathan Tjoe-A-On is not yet ready (in Duff’s own words) for a start which should meant that the rest of the side will have the same feel as the previous two games leaving us continuing with three at the back.

Three goals conceded last weekend could have suggested a move around the backline but Duff looks set to continue with Darling, Cabango and Wood for now as he goes in search of a first Swans league win as manager.

With transfer speculation around Joel Piroe still strong the game could end up being his last home league start in a Swans shirt and yesterday’s contract news for Matt Grimes will mean that he leads out the Swans with a two year contract extension tucked nicely in his pocket.

Outside of those mentioned Carl Rushworth, Josh Key, Harrison Ashby, Jay Fulton and Jerry Yates should also all start in what will prove to be a tough test for the Swans.

Predicted Starting XI:ย Rushworth, Key, Darling, Cabango, Wood, Ashby, Grimes, Fulton, Patino, Piroe, Yates.

Coventry have sold out their full allocation of tickets for this game although there are still plenty of tickets available in the home sections.

  1. Would rather see the side playing without one of the centre halves and a stronger midfield.
It is extremely early in the new regime and we have to be patient – not always a strong suit at the Liberty .
Coventry are a good side with a well established manager .As a regular in the stadium I know itโ€™s easier to be patient on this website than in Landore .Reading this back doesnโ€™t sound like Iโ€™m too confident!
