Reports say Chelsea defender has signed – Welcome Bashir

Reports in London say that there are no issues with the signing of Bashir Humphreys and that an announcement from both clubs is imminent to confirm his season long loan.

Humphreys will be the fourth signing of deadline day and follows Kristian Pedersen, Josh Tymon and Jamal Lowe into the club and adds another much needed option to defence particularly on the left side.

As we covered initially back in the first stories of Humphreys he is highly rated by many at Stamford Bridge and we should take it as a real positive that they have allowed him to go on loan.

Humphreys made his debut for Chelsea in a FA Cup tie at Manchester City earlier this year but spent the second half of last season on loan at Paderborn in the German second tier.ย  ย He made 13 appearances in Germany and also played – and scored – for England in the Under-20 World Cup.

Bashir signed for Chelsea at under-15 level, going on to sign a scholarship deal in 2019. He signed his first professional contract with Chelsea in October 2021, going on to extend this deal the following year.

Looking back on the past twelve months earlier this summer Humphreys told the Chelsea website “I feel pride in the fact that I proved a lot to myself and showed up for myself in moments that were tough, but above all, I am grateful in the opportunities I received this season.”

And that seems to bring to an end a very busy day in SA1 and closes one of the busiest transfer windows we have seen for many years.ย  ย The manager has certainly been backed now it is over to him!
