Another farcical signing set to leave for Bolton Wanderers

Yet another player not given an opportunity to perform in the first team is set to depart for pastures new with Nathanael Ogbeta on his way to League One promotion chasers Bolton Wanderers.

Another puzzling signing, Ogbeta has impressed consistently at League One level but has barely played a few minutes for the Swans and has struggled for fitness since suffering an injury towards the end of last season whilst on loan at Peterborough United.

The former Manchester City academy graduate joined from Shrewsbury in January 2022 for a fee believed to be around ยฃ300k and has made just three appearances for the club.

It’s unknown as of yet whether Ogbeta will be leaving on a permanent or loan deal although it seems likely he will be the second left back to depart the club in the last 24 hours after Nathan Tjoe-A-On’s loan move to Heerenveen was confirmed this afternoon.

This is yet another example of how far wrong the club has gone in years gone by wasting good money on players who are either not suitable or not wanted by head coaches. This is only worsened by what is now turning out to be an abhorrent transfer window last summer.

Quite ironic that this happens just after he makes the bench for us.

It's an interesting one for the boy considering we have put a new contract on his lap.
Think it was a sign to him that Williams had him on the bench on the weekend and possibly Pedersen isn't a Williams type of full back.

Shocked heโ€™s been offered a new deal considering heโ€™s never had a fair chance, he done well on loan at P Boro last season before he got injured Iโ€™d like to see him have a run in the team.

Have we offered him a new contract? as the report says Williams wants to offer him a new one.

Put it like this, he will be 23 by the time his contract is up in the summer.
If we don't offer him a contract of atleast equal value to what he is currently on then he will be allowed to go on a free come the summer.
If we offer him a contract and he signs then Williams has a left back that he feels can offer something, if he doesn't sign then we get some sort of compensation for him due to his age.
The latter gives us some back up if he wants to go in this window.

Given we bought 3 new left backs in the summer, and have another 2 youngsters on pro contracts, we should probably be looking to move him on asap unless Williams absolutely adores what he's seen of him. Wish him well but between the injuries and the man who signed him being sacked for it, fair to say he's not had the best time here.

encouraging that LW likes what he sees. Proper competition for Tymon in that bombing forward space.
never got a look in with RM as he was reluctant to always have to check-back, tuck-in, pass sideways to simply retain possession. It's not how he was brought up at Man City. Another player potentially unleashed from RM's shackles.

Seeing as none of us here have likely seen enough of him to make any judgement, I feel he's worth keeping on purely for numbers. We've no cover on that left hand side of defence if Tymon is out, and Ogbeta is supposedly a pretty similar replacement (no idea of the quality difference mind)
