Leicester City next – the lessons keep coming for Luke Williams

The Swans will be back in league action tomorrow evening as they make the trip to the East Midlands to take on a Leicester City side who top the Championship and look totally set for a return to the Premier League.

The Foxes, relegated last season, have been the consistent outstanding team so far this term and currently hold a seven point lead over second placed Ipswich and an eight point lead over Southampton in third.

With sixty-six points from the twenty-eight games to date you would almost take an assumption that eight or nine more wins is likely to seal that return to the Premier League and there is little doubt that Leicester will be targeting the first of those wins on Tuesday night.

Having witnessed the ease in which Southampton and then Bournemouth pulled us apart in the last two games they will be fancying much the same at the King Power Stadium and if we defend anything like we have done in the last two first halves we have played then they will also likely be out of sight at half time.

So it will be the lessons that Luke Williams has talked about that he will be looking to put in play if he is to stop the home side adding to the three points they took home from the Swansea.com Stadium earlier this season.

Whilst the Swans were crashing out of the FA Cup on Thursday night at Bournemouth, Leicester were cruising past Birmingham 3-0 on Saturday to earn themselves their own crack away at Bournemouth in the fifth round of the competition they won in 2021.ย  Leicester managed their FA Cup win with eight academy playersin the squad – something that they know has set them up well for the future

โ€œIโ€™m very happy,โ€ said Enzo Maresca after the win over Birmingham. โ€œEspecially for all the young players we had in the squad, eight from the Academy. I think itโ€™s nice and an historic night for the Football Club. I donโ€™t know if itโ€™s happened before.

โ€œWe knew about our players; itโ€™s just about giving them the chance in the right moment. We know very well that Ben Nelson is ready, heโ€™s ready to play with us. He played a fantastic game, but also there are more players like Brandon, Arjan in the second half, Wanya [Marรงal] and Kasey [McAteer].โ€

The Swans team selection will make for interesting viewing tomorrow with Jamal Lowe of course out injured and yesterday’s speculation on the future of Jerry Yates naturally questioning whether we will see him in action in the game.

For those looking to make the trip tomorrow night there is some excellent travel information and details of where you can have your pre-match refreshments in our matchday thread provided by Jackharris.

The game is one that was rescheduled from the Saturday just past due to both sides being involved in FA Cup action so is not available on the Sky red button but will be available on Swans TV to international supporters.
