Whilst the discussions this week have been largely around the transfer window, the Swans return to league action tomorrow with Plymouth Argyle arriving at the Swansea.co Stadium in search of their first away win of the season.
Statistics like that will generally worry Swans fans who always seem to be on the end of finishing runs like that but Luke Williams will want to take the positives he had from the Leicester game and turn them into three points for the Swans tomorrow.
It will not be lost on Williams that the Swans have won just one of their last six league games and their tally of five points from those six games is the second worst in the division – Blackburn have just two points over the same period.ย ย By comparison, Plymouth have only lost one of their last six but with a tally of four draws they have gained only two more points than the Swans which tells us much at the moment that they are difficult to beat at the moment.
The only thing that separates the two sides over the course of the season is the fact that Plymouth have a goal difference that is better than ours – theirs is level compared to ours that stands at minus eight thanks to some recent heavy defeats.ย Both sides therefore know that a positive result for them tomorrow will see them end the day above the other.ย ย That’s an incentive for the Swans surely.
The Swans were 3-1 winners over Plymouth earlier on in the season and have the opportunity to complete a first league double of the season as well as secure a first league win for Luke Williams after his return at the start of January.
With three new faces in his squad, Williams is expected to feature them all at some stage in the game and a stat for Ronald is certainly on the cards after his forty-five minute appearance in Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat at Leicester.
Argyle’s deadline day also saw them loan a player from Arsenal with England Under-19s left-back Lino Sousa signed on loan and they had an added boost by holding onto former Swan Morgan Whittaker when all the speculation at the start of the month suggested that there may have been a Premier League move in the offing.
Argyle will be backed by a strong support for the game with all their tickets (and coach places) sold out for the game although there are plenty of tickets left for home games with the overall crowd anticipated to be around the 16,000 mark (or at least that will be the tickets sold for the fixture!)
Our matchday thread for the game has been up and running since after the Leicester game and we remain grateful for Jackharris for his work on these – some of which is reproduced below for the game.ย ย You can share your views on the matchday thread by clicking here – all the views of the fans pre, during and post the game can be read!
The game at the Swansea.com kicks off at 3pm
