Same mistakes again for Swans as Williams rues missed chances

Swansea City were left to contemplate the same mistakes again as Plymouth left the Swansea.com Stadium with all three points yesterday afternoon.ย  For the visitors it was a first away triumph of the season and left the Swans looking more nervously over our shoulders as the bottom three starts to close in.

Manager Luke Williams believed that the Swans had more than enough chances to get something out of the game and the match stats probably backed that up with the Swans having 71% possession as well as twice as many attempts at goal but ultimately four shots on target from nineteen attempts tells its own story.

Morgan Whittaker was the only player to find the back of the net to give the visitors the three points on his own return to the Swansea.com Stadium after being sold onto Argyle in the summer.ย  ย What the Swans would do for a finisher like Whittaker in their squad at this moment in time!

As he reflected on the defeat after the game, Williams knew where the game had been lostย โ€œWeโ€™re very frustrated. I think we created enough chances to win the game, but we have to be more clinical,โ€ said the Swans boss.

โ€œI think we lost concentration for the action which led to the corner, and then we lost concentration again from the corner for their goal. We paid the full price.

โ€œWe lacked composure in the final third and then, if you have 70 per cent of the ball, youโ€™re denying a lot of opportunities for the other team because they donโ€™t have the ball.

โ€œBut, when they get an action and you donโ€™t defend it correctly, then even one per cent is enough to win the game. You have to concentrate for the entire game.

โ€œWe can also play quicker to create even more chances and then, even if youโ€™re not clinical โ€“ if you create even more chances โ€“ maybe itโ€™s enough to win.

โ€œWe should combine being quick, being able to play smoothly and combine that with being more clinical and then weโ€™ll have a good formula.โ€
