Swansea City v Blackburn Rovers: Matchday build up and latest news

The Swans welcome John Eustace and his Blackburn Rovers side to the Swansea.com Stadium this afternoon looking to try and put some improvement on their dreadful home record which just about sums up our season in a nutshell.

The Swans have managed just four league wins in front of their home fans this season and are currently on the back of four straight nil returns at home with Southampton, Plymouth, Leeds and Ipswich all leaving SA1 with maximum points since the appointment of Luke Williams.

Last weekend’s win at Sunderland was a confidence booster if nothing else but also kept the Swans four points ahead of the relegation zone and they have the chance to move further away this afternoon should we pick up the three points.

Injury updates from the Swans camp

There is good news for Luke Williams who welcomes back from injury Josh Key, Harrison Ashby, Bashir Humphreys, Azeem Abdulai and Jamal Lowe who have all been back in training this week.

“We have got some bodies back,” said the Swans boss.

“Josh Key is in full training and we are happy with that, although this weekend might be too soon for him.

“Harrison is training too and available for the weekend potentially.

“Bashir is fine, Azeem Abdulai was not quite ready for Sunderland but is available this weekend, and Jamal Lowe is fit too.

“The treatment room is less busy, itโ€™s an amazing effort from the medical team and the players in applying themselves to their rehab, thatโ€™s the winning combination.”

Looking ahead

Joe Allen: “Blackburn is a game we are looking forward to, and the win at Sunderland has given us confidence going into the match,โ€ said Allen.

โ€œWe will look to play with the same intensity as we did last weekend and, with the home crowd behind us on our own turf, it’s a recipe for a good performance and we have to go out and deliver it.โ€

John Eustace: โ€œWe used the squad really well on Tuesday and Iโ€™m sure that weโ€™ll be ready to go, whoeverโ€™s picked,” said the Rovers boss.

โ€œWeโ€™ve had a lot of games – six games in 18 days. This is the Championship and itโ€™s what itโ€™s all about. We have to get on with it.ย

โ€œThe most important thing for me is that everyone knows their responsibilities and that nobodyโ€™s more important than anyone else.

โ€œThose players who havenโ€™t been involved will play a major part going forward, thereโ€™s no doubt about that, because thatโ€™s just how the Championship is.

โ€œItโ€™s important that everyone feels as special as each other. The squadโ€™s united and everyone wants to do well for Blackburn Rovers.โ€
