SC Bastia winger Florian Bianchini is set to be the second of two signings today at Swansea City according to French outlet L’Equipe.
Luke Williams got tongues wagging earlier this morning by confirming that two new players were soon due to arrive at Fairwood in a central defender – who we now know is Nelson Abbey – and a right sided winger.
The Swans boss told the media this morning: “There are a couple of players that will be joining us very shortly. So I’ll be able to introduce you to those guys in the very near future.
“Not yet,” Williams responded on whether it was safe to mention names. “We just want to make sure the medicals go well. But we’re at that stage. So good news.
“One’s an attacking player and the other’s a defending player.
“We’re still not finished in recruitment, but this will be a big step forward in giving us more cover and making us more competitive. So great news.
“More to follow.”
Whilst Abbey is expected to be a season long loan move from Greek club Olympiacos, Bianchini is to move on a permanent deal after scoring five in Ligue 2 last season.
23 years of age and 5 foot 10 in height, the Frenchman joined Bastia last summer from Amiens after loan spells at Avranches and Chateauroux in his homeland. He has represented France U19’s on 3 occasions, scoring once.
Described as a player with “rapid speed” the winger will compliment the likes of Eom Ji-Sung and Ronald as options out wide and will more than likely be amongst the substitutes for the Cardiff City fixture on Sunday.
Bianchini netted five goals and a further six assists in 28 appearances after signing on a free last July and whilst he is described as a winger, he can also play as an attacking midfielder or up front – which is where he played three days ago against Metz FC.
Hopefully this is the first two with three further to follow before next Friday!
