Post match press conferences don’t get much worse than after a 4-0 defeat to a side in the bottom three but Luke Williams really appears to be making his job virtually untenable at Swansea City as he yet again failed to dismiss rumours linking him to the exotica of West Bromwich Albion.
Rumours surfaced earlier this week that Williams, alongside Steven Schumacher, was earmarked for potential talks with Albion who lost their head coach Carlos Corberan on Christmas Eve to Valencia.
And after the 3-0 win against QPR the Swans boss was evasive at best when questioned about the links to the job at the Hawthorns, directing them to speak to his agent so he can continue his job in SA1.
Strange, isn’t it?
Well it got stranger today as again the question was posed to him. And amidst questions as to why he would allow his captain to take team talks before, half time and at the end of he previous two home games, it does nothing to quell rumours that indeed all is not well at Fairwood.
“If they (WBA officials) were at the game today, I won’t be going anywhere, will I?
“(The rumours) can create uncertainty and people feel more comfortable when people have clarity, but I don’t think that had anything to do with today.”
This came after a horrendous 90 minutes for the team as they hammered themselves with four mistakes gifting Portsmouth a well deserved win. A Portsmouth team with all the fight and grit in stark contrast to a Swansea team that looked like they’d given up.
And perhaps the manager has too?
It’s amazing how things change so quickly in football. The highs of back to back home wins with fans united to the world crashing around you just days later. But where does this leave Luke Williams?
