Various media outlets are reporting that Swansea City captain Matt Grimes is edging closer to a move to Saturday’s opponents Coventry City.

After ten years at the club, the Swans midfielder has again been a mainstay in the team as Luke Williams’ men sit in the lower half of the Championship.

But it appears that with two and a half years remaining on his contract it appears that his relationship with the club will come to end with the Sky Blues increasingly confident of completing a deal before next week’s transfer deadline.

Two bids have been rejected so far but with sources at both the BBC and Wales Online understanding that a move is likely to go through, one would expect that the deal will be done sooner rather than later.

In terms of a fee it is likely to be in the region of £2-3m for the 29 year old.

To say it sets alarm bells ringing maybe a bit reactive but it is a concern that we would look to move away from someone that fans view as the glue that holds the team together.

As always time will tell in these situations but a replacement would need to be immediate amidst the continued silence from chairman and all round good guy Andy Coleman as the Swans drift towards the lower reaches of the Championship.

We’ll be losing our best and worst midfielder at the same time. Mixed feelings, but - and I may come to regret this - I think it’s for the best in the long term, so hope this comes off.

If this is true then. There is no point everyone starting to back track. We wanted change. Yes no doubt there is a player there. But he has brought nothing as captain. And I see more errors than anything else. Maybe this is why he has down tools it would make sense now. I have 0 issues with changing things up in mid field. Be careful what you wish for people.

Speaks volumes. He has downed tools. Get Franco or someone else as captain. People will start panicking. But can our performances get any worse?

It's that typical situation of wanting rid of your missus but she one ups you and says she wants to leave you. You're hurt and upset that it wasn't on your terms...

While I'm on a rant. If he goes, people will start to pull up the stats he will bring to Coventry. I could get great stats by kicking a ball against the wall. But if it doesn't go into the chalk drawn goal then what's the point.... Food for thought people.

I was going to say it was evident Saturday that he was protecting himself from getting injured by the way he played, but that’s just how he plays anyway.

2.5m. Fucking hell. Can barely even call it asset stripping.

How much, if any, goes to Exeter?
