What The Fans Said – Doncaster Rovers

IAN05 Posted on 5/3 22:52 Email this Message | My Thoughts

For what it’s worth, a much better performance tonight, for half hour we were outstanding, lots of good individual performances. If we can play like that then we will have an outside chance. Player comments : Murphy – Shot stopping excellent, but he doesn’t have the presence Freestone has, I feel we will concede a lot of silly goals with him in the side. O’Leary – Solid and worked his socks off. Howard – Much, Much better tonight – seems happier with Coates in front of him. Iriekpin – Outstanding Masharlled LFW brilliantly Tate – Same as Iriekpen Britton – Busy and is getting better at getting in the box. Martinez – Looks sharp every game, played some lovely balls through to Robbo. Robinson – One of his quieter games, but still worked very hard. Nugent – Worked tirelessly, and was fouled hell of a lot. Roberts – Outstanding, did everything Maylett hasn’t been.

You left Coates out! I don’t blame you for forgetting about him though, he didn’t do much tonight.

thought britton was poor, never seemed to get into the game tonight which suprised me.

Thought Coates was poor tonight which is a shame as he has been playing quite well recently. Nugent did well for me, won his fair share of headers and was fouled a lot but the incompetent ref couldnt see that. Not sure why he came off for Thommo. If your gonna do that you cant keep hitting long balls as Thommo is not physical enough for that role. Also didnt understand the logic in taking off our most battling midfielder (injury?) for Maylett against a physical team like Donny. Roberts, Iriekpen and Tate were outstanding. Roberts would have got a hat trick if luck was on his side. Martinez looks like he is at last nearing his best again, not quite there yet though. Murphy showed no positional sense or confidence but made a few very good stops and kicked very well. Though we played well, Doncaster will not know how they havent won with the amount of clear cut chances they had in the 2nd half. Can see why they are doing well, very good goalkeeper, tough tackling defence and midfield who dont give any time on the ball, a bit of class from Mcindoe and the classic div 3 cf in Fortune-West. Do think that Trundle would have made a big difference tonight though.

And by that I mean both teams. Easily the best game I’ve seen down the Vetch for a long time, second half particularly. Credit where it’s due, Donny are the best team I’ve watched this season. Thought McIndoe was outstanding but he was up against our weakest link tonight in Kris O’Leary. Stu "Robbo" Roberts was class in the second half, but on the whole it was nice to see 2 teams trying to play good football and going all out for a win. It would have been nice to have got all 3 points but I have increased optimism due to the passion and will-to-win shown by us throughout the game. UP THE JACKS!! P.S. Has Murphy got Dynamite in his boots or something, someone needs to tell him to tone it down!!!

Sounded like a good game on the crackling Radio Sheffield AM station. Good luck with the rest of the season Daz

I thought O’Leary had a good game tonight. Our back 4 were all good tonight especially Izzy and Tate. I know it was a defensive error for their goal, but Murphy was not blameless (to put it mildly).

You’re a good team, I hope you go up….but (see earlier post I’m still a little bit peeved)

Both sides had so many chances, Im surprised it was only 1-1. Great end to end stuff.

IAN05 Posted on 5/3 22:57 Email this Message | Who was??

The Doncaster player with the white boots??? As he was outstanding, one of the best I’ve seen at the Vetch this season!!

pure_rock_fury Posted on 5/3 23:00 Email this Message | McIndoe

I didn’t notice him too much, but everyone else seems to think he had a great game.

McIndoe. He was mentioned every other breath taking sentence on Radio Sheffield.

I agree with PRF, i didn’t notice him much either but was a threat at times, i thought O’leary did a decent job on him.

Acorrding To Radio Sheffield he put some good crosses in. The one from which Brown scored and the one late in second half were it was like a pinball been cleared of the line!!

You wouldn’t believe the chances you had towards the end. How we cleared the ball I don’t know. Pinball is a good word. ‘Mayhem’ is another. I still can’t believe you didn’t score from those penalty box scrambles!.

It felt like last season when Donny had all those chances!!! I honestly could not watch. Just wanted the terrible ref to blow up.

Radio Comentator did say your keeper kept you in the game. How many made the trip down from Yorkshie?

1,000 easy – the away end of the West Terrace were full and some of your fans had gone into the (empty) home end.

I don’t know the figure, but it was one of the biggest away followings of the season I think. At least 600?. A great turn-out for a Friday night trip from Yorkshire.

The Swans half of the WT will always be empty when they expect a big away following, even though it is meant to be a standing family area. Cant see many families wanting to stand that close to the opposition fans.

A draw is more than I expected, but to read that it was a good game is the best. Two sides who try to play the game, and battle, is what we pay for. Good luck for the rest….etc

It was a fitting battle for a knight errant! Haven’t you got any windmills to fight?
