O’Leary was in fine form in the middle of the park with the only downside being a yellow card that he received. The Cheltenham official site report states these couple of snippets on the man who was playing his first professional game outside the black and white shirts of Swansea
“O’Leary showed great technique a couple of moments later to release a low drive along the greasy surface from 25 yards.”
“O’Leary was allowed to pull the trigger from 20 yards from one such move but the effort was always rising”
“O’Leary, who had a terrific game on his first outing in the red and white stripes, pinched possession back in midfield and poked the ball back to Gill, who knocked the ball over the top”
Whilst Cheltenham manager John Ward had this to say “Kristian O’Leary knows all about League One football. He’s added some strength in there, he’s an older version of David Bird. He is a solid player who can pick out a pass. The longer it went on the better he got because he got to know the players a bit more. He as delighted as anybody tonight.”
The result lifts Cheltenham off the bottom of the table and above Brentford who slip to 22nd.
