Planet Swans ArchivesThe Swans bounced back from their mauling at Reading to record a victory in midweek with Williams and his defensive colleagues keeping a confidence boosting clean sheet in the process.
And whilst Williams says that confidence was not dented through the result at Reading he was happy enough to deliver the kind of performance he believed was owed
“I think the Preston match was one of the hardest games I have played this season,” said Williams in tonight’s Evening Post.
“They didn’t create much. They just went direct and hoped one of us would make a mistake.
“We got a clean sheet and you can’t ask for more than that. We defended well as a team — everyone was putting themselves about — and the midfield stopped them getting balls through any gaps.
“From a player’s point of view, it was very pleasing knowing everyone had played a big part in that.
“I wouldn’t say confidence was restored after winning that game because it wasn’t low in the first place, but we owed ourselves a good performance and we delivered.
“Now we move on to Wolves and it will be another big test for us.
“There are no easy games in this league — even the less glamorous teams that people expect us to beat — and every game presents you with different scenarios.
“It’s a close league and we know how tough it is — you can see that by the results recently as every team is capable of beating each other.”
