Roberto Excited About Ipswich

Martinez has vowed to learn the mistakes of the last international break when the Swans went into it on good form but came out not quite firing on all cylinders.

And that is something he wants to change this time as the Swans head to Ipswich for what promises to be another tough test.

Speaking to the Western Mail, Roberto said The internationals did arrive at the wrong time

โ€œBut we turned it into a positive, really topped up our energy levels and now everyone is really excited about the next period of games.

โ€œItโ€™s important to learn from the first break. It took us too long to get back to being ourselves last time.

โ€œWe need to show that we are more mature as a squad. That would be a great achievement and it would show how much we have progressed.โ€

He continued: โ€œI was very disappointed with the response to the first break. The challenge for Saturday is to change that.

โ€œBut itโ€™s going to be hard to start the way we left off against Wolves. We had great momentum and good tempo in our play then.

โ€œItโ€™s a case of two extremes. There is the way we finished against Wolves and then there is the way we started against Crystal Palace after the last international break.

โ€œWe just need to learn our lessons and make sure this is more like the Wolves game.

โ€œI think the number of games after an international break is the real problem,โ€ he said. โ€œYou canโ€™t go from having one game in 14 days to five games in the same amount of time.

โ€œIt just doesnโ€™t make sense. And itโ€™s difficult for the players to adapt to it.

โ€œBut we will never find the perfect scenario when balancing international and club demands.

โ€œThis is the situation and we have to get on with it. The good thing is it is the same for everyone so nobody gets an advantage.โ€
