Grabbing the third in Swansea City’s win over Watford at the Liberty Stadium was as significant for him as it was for the team – he had finally broken his duck for the season.
A prolific time pre-season and a start on the opening day of the season suggested that there were good times ahead for Bauza in his second season in English football.ย ย However, since that time it has been pretty much downhill all the way and for a long time he found himself not even in the matchday 16 let alone near a starting place.
But two substitute appearances in the last two games and a chance of a start against Watford tomorrow and he could well be back on track to fulfill the promise that he showed.ย ย ย Bauza ran half the length of the pitch after scoring to celebrate in front of his girlfriend and revealed in todays Evening Post that she had a premonition that he would score in the game
“I was relieved to score, I was really happy because my girlfriend was relying on me to score. Sometimes maybe you are not confident because you are on the bench, but she told me before the game that I was going to score for sure.
“I remembered what she said so I ran over to her on the other side of the pitch. She is going to be there for every game from now on.
“It’s been a long time since I have been on the pitch for that time but I had 28 minutes to play
“When you come on as a sub it is difficult because you have to adapt to the intensity. You can’t do selfish things.
“You need to know your role as soon as you get on.
“All that good energy that has been building up over the past two or three months came out in that time.
“It has not been frustrating. I have always said that you can’t be negative just because you are not playing in the first team.
“You need to be patient and ready when the manager needs you.
“This was a time to be patient and I needed to grab my chance.
“I just have to show what I can do on the pitch and help the team. It’s not about what I do โ it’s about the team and I think we can do good things this season.”
