Swansea City’s Dutch midfielder Ferrie Bodde will take his first significant step in the long road to recovery this Thursday as he undergoes an operation to repairย cruciate ligament damage to his knee sustained in the 3-2 loss to Birmingham City last Friday evening.
Bodde along with Swansea City physio Richie Evans travelled to the state of the art Lister Hospital in London for the operation and after a one hour consultation with knee specialists, Evans expressed his satisfaction that the surgeon’s carrying out the procedure do not foresee any major problems as he spoke about the 26 year old’s surgery on the clubs official site , he said
“The consultation went very well,.The consultant went through the video of the incident and the MRI scans and explained to Ferrie and myself in detail the exact procedure for the operation and the recovery process. While there is a bit of cartilage damage as well, he doesn’t expect any problems with the operation.”
Giving support to his team mate, Darren Pratley has spoken at his disappointment that his midfield partner has been rulled out for the rest of the season as he told the SWEP, he said “It’s obviously a huge disappointment for us..”He has been a great player for us ever since he joined and there’s no point lying about it, he is going to be a big miss.He is our (joint) top-scorer and he brings us a lot just with his presence.โ
“He has been playing really well this season and it’s disappointing for him that he is going to miss the big games we’ve got coming up.I think we have played quite well together. But there are other players who have been waiting for a chance and now someone will get one. You’ve got people like Owain Tudur Jones, a current Welsh international, as well as Shaun MacDonald, Kris O’Leary and Joe Allen when he’s fit.โ
Refocusing at the task at hand Pratley has refused to let the injury to such an influential part of the Swansea squad make him lose sight of the task at hand and move on without Bodde, he added”Now we have to do the same again without Ferrie, because there’s no point feeling sorry for ourselves.โ
