The Swansea City defender has a clause in his contract that says he will automatically trigger a years extension if he plays in half of Swansea’s league games this season.

And that 23rd appearance will be gained at Vicarage Road it seems likely on Saturday giving him an extended stay at the Liberty and he could not be happier.

“I am comfortable here and I am happy so I am glad that I will have another year on my contract after my next appearance,” he told the Evening Post

“Swansea gave me my chance. I love this club and I think the club loves me as well.

“There has been speculation about Celtic being interested in me this month, but it was just a rumour.

“I have been quiet and I have been relaxed because I know I belong to Swansea City.

“Whatever agents do, I can’t do much about,” Rangel added.

“I am focusing on Swansea and the play-offs. Hopefully, if we can get there and win promotion, that would be the best thing for everyone.

“I don’t think this is the best moment to be talking about extending my contract. There is plenty of time to speak about that, I am not worried.”
