The defender is a summer target for Swansea City and whilst he was unwilling to comment on the speculation regards the club he does believe it is time for him to move on from the O's.
“I am not from London so it would not be an issue to leave,” said Mkandawire when asked by the Western Mail.
“I do not think you can choose too much where you go, it’s all about the football, so location does not really matter.
“I just think it’s time for a challenge now. I’m 27 and I’ve been there for three years.
“I feel it’s right for me to experience a new club and try and step up. I want to do that. I don’t think I’ve hidden the fact I want to do that, and nobody can knock me for wanting to play as high as I can. It’s the perfect opportunity.
“I don’t know too much about it to be honest." he added when asked about the Swans
“I’m just relaxing on holiday in Portugal, let my agent worry about that.
“I’ll just take everything one step at a time.”
