The Swansea manager is under no illusions that funds are tight at the Liberty and that players may need to move on before new players come in.
And the Evening Post is also reporting that the chances of signing the likes of Carlos Vela and Daniel Sturridge are diminishing.
Funds have always been tight at the Liberty Stadium something that Rodgers admits “That’s about right,” he told the Post.
“We don’t have the funds available that many of the clubs in this league have.
“I know last January (at Swansea) there was an effort made in terms of bringing players in to try to help the club push on.
“But I’m not sure we’ll be able to do that this year unless we can manoeuvre the squad around.
“It’s about planning,” he added.
“I know ideally what we need to help us, but there are a number of things which will determine what happens and a big one is finance.
“I have been speaking to lots of people, though, and hopefully there will be some movement next month.
“I think trimming the squad will be natural during this window and at the end of the season,” he said.
“Players who are not playing want to play and I’m sure if they are not getting game-time, they will want to get it somewhere else.
“Some players will go out on loan, some may move elsewhere, but I think there will be a natural transition of players.”
