Reports before Christmas suggested that Van Der Gun had instructed his agent to find him a move away from Swansea but after his FA Cup appearance and goal at the weekend he still thinks he can make a difference to the promotion push – if he is given the chance to do so.
He told the Western Mail โWe have a very good team and I believe I can fit in pretty well when I play
โThis year I havenโt played a lot of games but when I have, Iโve felt good.
โI havenโt been playing my best football yet, I know I can play better.
โBut I am happy with my performances in the games I have played.
โI know I can do even better. You play your best football when you play regularly.
โEvery player wants to play,โ added van der Gun.
โIโm no different, I want to play every week.
โI had the opportunity and I thought I played well, especially having not played much at all recently.
โFor every player itโs difficult when you are not playing a lot.
โI have no idea at the moment [if I will leave].
โI will have to wait and see what happens.
โFor now, I am really happy to play a full 90 minutes, score a goal and now we will see from here.
โIโm happy to be back playing.
โIโve had a few games now where I have not been involved in the squad, so it was important for me to get back in.
โTo score a goal is always nice and I feel pretty confident in the way I play.โ
Asked about the situation regards Van Der Gun, Brendan Rodgers told the same paper โItโs been difficult for Cedric, thereโs no getting away from that,
โBut heโs trained and worked exceptionally hard every day and his professionalism is very, very good.
โI canโt say never because heโs a player that when you get to that age and that part of your career you want to play.โ
