Brendan – We’re Living The Dream

Brendan Rodgers knows that his side is living the dream as they continue their Premier League season

Ten games into that debut season and the Swans find themselves in 10th place with just one more game to overcome before they head into yet another international break.

And in that game there stands just the matter of five time European Champions Liverpool on their own patch – a ground steeped in history and tradition.

But as Brendan says, this is what it was always meant to be about and he told the Evening Postย “We are in a great moment of happiness and joy, which comes when you can see progress and, ultimately, success alongside it

“The supporters, like everyone involved with the club, are living the dream at the moment.

“We are competing at the highest level. We are in the top ten of the most competitive league in the world and we are playing some outstanding football.

“But having said all that, we will not be getting carried away.

“We need to make continual improvements, and for me there is still scope for a lot of growth in terms of the team and the club.

“We have to embrace the challenge of going to face Liverpool,” Rodgers adds.

“We have earned the right to be in this league and these games are an opportunity for us โ€” I see them only as an opportunity.

“Liverpool are a club with a great history who are respected all round the world because of everything they have achieved in the game.

“They have a terrific manager who is steeped in the club’s history and they have some good players.

“But I have got some good players too.

“My players have earned the right to play in these games and we will go into the weekend looking to improve our away record. That’s something we feel we can do in every single away game.”

Liverpool’s fortunes have turned around drastically since Kenny Dalglish was re-appointed into the managers seat

“In the second half of last season they were fantastic and there is expectation now that they will follow on from there,” Rodgers says. “Kenny has done a brilliant job since he went back, and I know Steve very well.

“He is an excellent coach and his input will have been vital to their success.

“Liverpool have spent a lot of money on some terrific players and they will want to be in the top four this season.

“We know that means it will be a tough test for us, but we are looking forward to it.”
