Steven Caulker would not rule out playing for Team GB at the London 2012 Olympics if the chance came around
Caulker has been in brilliant form for the Swans this season, helping them to their current 10th placed position in the Premier League.
And he is also one of four players at the club who have been asked if he would be interested in playing if the chance came around
Caulker said: โIf the Olympics does go ahead with a GB Team, it would be fantastic to be a part of it.
โIโve got to keep playing at my best until the end of the season and hopefully I will get that opportunity.
โIโve never really been a big fan of Olympic football, but if I got the opportunity this year I would be buzzing.”
Caulker’s name has also been linked with an England call up which could add to his excitement with Euro 2012 looming large on the horizonย โThat (call-up) is obviously for Capello to say, but it hasnโt really come into my mind yet,โ added Caulker.
โIโm playing U21s at the moment and Iโm just concentrating on doing well for them.
โDefinitely in the long-term picture, it would be a dream to play for England.
โYou have to keep working, keep playing well and hopefully that chance will come.
โHe (Capello) has given a lot of young English boys an opportunity over the last few years so itโs promising that heโs coming here.
โIโm not getting ahead of myself yet, but itโs exciting.
โItโs three goals in three games for Nathan and we always knew he could score, Iโm pleased to see him start hitting the net.
โThe Premier League is massive and the spotlight on it is huge. When you are playing on a big stage, if you do well youโll get recognised. So far so good.
โThereโs no reason why they canโt make the squad, Theo Walcott was on show today and Nathanโs out-classed him so he can break through.
โTheyโve been fantastic throughout the whole season.
โThere are a lot of Welsh internationals here and it would be a great achievement for all of us if we could get the England call-up.
โBut weโve got to concentrate on our league performances first.”
Caulker played his part in Sunday’s 3-2 victory over Arsenal which put to bed memories of his debut for Spurs – against Arsenal in a 4-1 defeat
โItโs amazing what a difference a year or so can make,โ said Caulker, who previously spent time on loan at Bristol City and Yeovil.
โI will have much better memories of this game.
โIt was a great game to play in and a fantastic result โ the boys are buzzing.
โOur three results, drawing with Spurs, beating Aston Villa and now beating Arsenal, means itโs been a great start to the new year and we are looking to build on it.
โWe are in the top half of the table and thatโs where we want to stay.
โWe donโt want to be looking over our shoulder at the relegation places. Hopefully we can get as many points as possible and continue to build.โ
