Jenkins – The Swans Best Season

Jenkins was speaking on the club’s official review of last season DVD that will go on sale in the club shop tomorrow and look back over what was an incredible nine months for the Swans.

Led by rookie manager Garry Monk, they upset the apple cart on Day 1 when they triumphed 2-1 at Old Trafford and we went onto do the league double over both United and Arsenal, only the third team in Premier League history to do that in the same season.

And whilst it wasn’t quite the highest place that the Swans have ever achieved – John Toshack’s side finished 6th in the top flight in 1982 – it was still enough for Jenkins to hail the season as the best ever.

He said รขโ‚ฌล“When youรขโ‚ฌโ„ขre competing in this division against big clubs, for us to be in the top ten all year and finish eighth comfortably shows that weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขve gone to a new level.

รขโ‚ฌล“Weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขve got a strong squad and the club is in a fantastic position, so it has to be the best shape the club has ever been in its history.

รขโ‚ฌล“To me itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs the best season in the clubรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs history. We have exceeded expectations – I donรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt think anyone can argue that.

รขโ‚ฌล“We have been consistent throughout the season, and that was the very pleasing thing.

รขโ‚ฌล“To stay in the top half of the table for the entire season is a fantastic achievement for us.”

Swansea City: Andy Coleman has much to answer for right now
