Woodgate on his team news

Jonathan Woodgate used his press conference yesterday to give some injury updates on his squad ahead of the Swans’ visit on Tuesday evening.

Woodgate will be hoping to put the disappointment of Saturday’s 3-2 home defeat to Barnsley behind him when the Swans arrive at the Vitality Stadium and he also knows that a win is almost essential for his side if they are to keep up their promotion hopes.

For a side that was widely tipped to push for the top of the division this season it has gone horribly wrong for the Cherries who have slipped down to 7th in the table and go into tonight’s game five points off the play off places with just ten games of the season to go.

Woodgate confirmed thatย Adam Smith will be missing for the game after sustaining an ankle injury at the weekend however he will welcome back Diego Rico into his defence.

Confirming the news on Smith he said “He won’t be fit for tomorrow or the weekend so we’ll see how he is after that. Hopefully we’ll get a prognosis off the medical team.

“Diego’s fine, he’s been back in training and Brooksy will hopefully, fingers crossed, be back after the international break,” Woodgate added when asked about Rico and David Brooks.

It has been a tough time for Bournemouth recently with Lewis Cook suffering an ACL injury last week which will sideline him for some timeย “Lewis will be getting operated on tomorrow so we wish him all the best,” reported Woodgate.

“We’re gutted for him that he’s going through this now but he’ll come out of it stronger and faster than he was before. It’s a blow for the squad so been it’s been difficult for Lewis and for the squad as well.”
