One of the deals that was not subject to the pressured timelines of deadline day was the Swans capture of Oliver Ntcham which is expected to be confirmed at some point today by the club.

Details emerged yesterday morning that the Swans were in for the player who was released from Celtic earlier this summer with much excitement over the potential capture.

However, as a free agent, the necessity to complete the deal by last night’s 11pm deadline was not required but it is understood that the small print was agreed last night and that Ntcham will be a Swansea City player at some stage today when the club confirm the capture.

Ntcham is one of those signings that could go either way.  On the face of it we have a superb midfielder who will add attacking options that we are so sadly lacking at the best of times.   But on the other hand you cannot completely hide away from the negative comments he attracts from elsewhere but on this occasion you have to believe that our manager – relatively new to the club – knows how to get the best out of this kind of player and sees a nice fit in his long term plan for the club.

At 25 years old and a French Under-21 international then it all feels good and a signing that we desperately required after a pretty torrid summer at Swansea but time will tell on the success of the deal but right now all there is to add is a “welcome to Swansea.”  #YJB
