“The best footballing side in the division” – Blackpool boss Critchley praises the Swans

Neil Critchley was clearly a happy man yesterday after watching his side come from a goal down to take a point back to the North West from South Wales thanks to a late goal from Keshi Anderson.

Anderson struck to cancel out Joel Piroe’s first half opener for the Swans but it was a host of penalty decisions that were not given that was one of the main talking points after the game with Russell Martin confirming that the Swans were to send a video compilation of recent appeals that were not given.

Critchley though was full of praise for the Swans after the game โ€œSwansea play a unique brand of football, theyโ€™re the best footballing side in the division and their home record is outstanding,โ€ said Critchley.

โ€œWe decided the best way to combat that was to change our shape today and we gave them a real problem without the ball in the first-half.

โ€œOther than the lad striking one in the top corner from 25 yards, they didnโ€™t really get near the goal.

โ€œIn the second-half, we showed real courage on the ball and we got on top of them and we made them do what they donโ€™t want to do, which is defend. At times we were in control of the game and that takes real bravery and ability.

โ€œWe didnโ€™t threaten the goal enough, but we were growing into the game all the time and in the end I donโ€™t think anything can begrudge us of our point.

โ€œOur character is never to be doubted though, we have it in abundance.

“For us to come here as the away team, and Iโ€™ve seen a lot of their games where theyโ€™ve won 3-0 and scorelines like that, weโ€™ve been more than a match for them today.โ€
