Leeds monitoring Ben?

Swansea’s newest Welsh international Ben Cabango is attracting the interest of Premier League new boys Leeds United according to press reports in Yorkshire.

Cabango who is likely to make his Wales debut at some point over the next few days made an impressive start to his professional career last season with 21 league appearances as well as playing in both legs of the play off semi final defeat to Brentford.

Those appearances have earned him his current Wales call up and now possibly a move to the Premier League if those reports are to be believed.

The Yorkshire Evening Post claims that Cabango is a name added to a list of potential targets of Victor Orta – Leeds sporting director of football.ย  The paper does go onto say that Leeds have not made an approach to Swansea and that any move is likely to be cover which does seem to make it very much a non-starter as the best thing for Ben right now would be a more regular stream of first team football.

Given the departure of Mike van der Hoorn in the summer and Ben Wilmot’s loan ending, Ben will be right at the forefront of appearances for the Swans this coming season with him, Marc Guehi and currently Joe Rodon providing most of the centre half options at the club.

For me this story is very much a non-starter in terms of having any legs on it but it does show that the performances of our young side last year have got plenty of attention elsewhere but Cabango – in my view – will remain a Jack next season and that has to be good news for us.
