Roberto Calls On Fans To Back His Swans

The Spaniard has been left disappointed by the attendances at the Liberty Stadium this season – the Swans currently average just under 13,000 in the league – and has called for the football public of Swansea to get behind his side as he looks to bring second tier football to the City for the first time since 1984.

After watching his side compile an eighth straight Liberty win on the weekend, Martinez believes that the fans should now back his side in numbers during the home straight of the season.ย  ‘A crowd of 12,500 is a bit disappointing,” the Swansea manager told the Evening Post.

”We have a fantastic following, and away from home the fans have been terrific this season.

”But at home I believe we should be getting a full house every week.

”It’s not just that we’re top of the league, it’s also the football we’ve been playing this season. I think the players deserve more.

”If we want to achieve our dream this season, we have nine cup finals to play at home from now on. It’s hard to believe we don’t get the whole club coming together and showing our best face in that situation.

“We want to show our best side as a club.

“We should show that we want to be successful and a full house for every game would do that.

“I understand that we are coming off the back of Christmas and that football is quite expensive these days. Maybe some of our fans are saving their money for the later stages of the campaign.

“But we shouldn’t take anything for granted. We need to give 100 per cent every game as a club if we want to achieve our goal.”
