Martinez joined Sir Alex Ferguson, Tony Mowbray and surprise winner Graham Turner of Hereford as the divisional winners of the award after all achieved success during the course of the season.
Ferguson led Manchester United to a 10th Premiership title whilst Mowbray will face them next season after he led his side into the 'promised land' Turner's Hereford could only finish third in League Two but that was enough to secure the award for the voters – the entire LMA membership.
It caps quite a year for Martinez who won three manager of the month awards in his first season in charge of the club as well as the League One title. Now rated as one of the best young managers in English football this is a fitting tribute.
LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson said "The awards recognise the achievements of the managers across the four top leagues in England.
"Recognition by your peers is an incredible privilege and this year's winners should be proud of their achievements.
"The LMA would like to congratulate all the managers for playing such an integral role in another fantastic season."
