De-Vulgt Breaks Foot

Swansea’s Welsh Under-21 International, Leigh De-Vulgt is facing up to two months on the sidelines after suffering a suspected broken foot whilst playing for Merthyr.

De-Vulgt who only recently joined the Martyrs on loan was playing in their FA Trophy replay against Tonbridge last night when he was stretchered off after a late tackle. Although the break is yet to be confirmed, De-Vulgt is fearing the worst and is not expected to be back in action until January at the earliest.

Speaking on the club’s official site, De-Vulgt said ” It’s just the type of luck I would expect at the moment. It was a late challenge, I knocked the ball past him and he caught me sliding in. He got a yellow for it, but I’ll miss a couple of months.”

This is the latest injury blow for Colin Addison who is already without both Lee Jenkins and Michael Howard as he looks to start moving his side away from the bottom of the league starting at Plainmoor on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Mamady Sidibe is coming to the end of his spell on the sidelines and he was expected to appear in tonight’s friendly at Hereford after six weeks out with hamstring problems. Sidibe was taken off in Addison’s first game in charge against Halifax and has not played since.

Also back off the fitness table tonight was Richie Appleby whilst Damien Lacey was set to continue his comeback. Certainly mixed news today for Addison, not helped by Hartlepool leapfrogging the Swans last night to leave the team just one point off the bottom of the football league yet again.

Addison will desperately be hoping for a win at Torquay on Saturday which will be the Jacks first success on the English Riviera since 1988.
