Former Swan back for Hull City ahead of weekend clash

Cyrus Christie is back, fit and ready to face the Swans tomorrow if needed as Hull look for a win that will keep them in the division’s top six as the season starts to enter the business end of proceedings.

Christie spent the latter half of the 2021/22 season on loan in SA1 before joining Hull at the end of the loan spell – a move that has now yielded more than 50 appearances for the Tigers.

Christie joins Adama Traorรฉ and Aaron Connolly who are also both back in contention – the latter having returned from the African cup of nations whilst, like Christie, Connolly is back from injury.

The return of the three players was confirmed by Hull boss Liam Rosenior who said โ€œAll three of them could be involved.

โ€œCyrus is back in full training. Aaron Connolly is back in full training. Adama is back after international duty. It was their first day back training today (Thursday) so we will have to assess the training from today and tomorrow and pick a squad from that.

โ€œWhen you think about when we played Sunderland, we had four teenagers in the squad. Stan (Ashbee), Oli Green, Tyrell (Sellars-Fleming) and Harry Vaughan. Allahyar (Sayyadmanesh) who is a little bit older and heโ€™s no longer at the club was also in there; our squad makeup is completely different.

โ€œAt the time I was saying we working towards something and now we are getting closer to a squad that I envisaged so it is great to see those three players back.โ€

They do though remain without Jean Michaรซl Seri who is still at AFCON and has progressed to the final with Ivory Coast “It is amazing,” added Rosenior.ย  “I got a message from ‘Mika’ this morning. I sent him luck just before the game, watched it and messaged him afterwards and I was so proud of him.”

Looking ahead to the weekend clash, the Hull boss added “The only thing I am focused on for the Swansea game is how we can perform at our best level to give us the best chance of winning the game and that is what we have worked on all week.

“Luke (Williams) is an outstanding coach. He fits Swanseaโ€™s personality for what they want to see in a team and I think he will do an outstanding job there; it will be a difficult game.”
