Flynn Comments

Brian Flynn hailed his team after the vital win against Lincoln but recognised that it is only the start and all the work will be undone if we go back to the results that have plagued us recently.

Speaking after the match, Flynn said “It’s a win, but it’s just one win, if we don’t build upon it, it will soonbe forgotten. We won 2-0 against Shrewsbury and then lost the next six games. It was a magnificent win but we are going to have to have another six or seven before the end of the season.”

Very true comments and of course one of the things that will worry Flynn is the fact that it is close on a year since we won on the road in the league and with our next match being away at Second place Rushden, would we be looking for the draw to keep this confidence going? “Rushdenare second in the league but we won’t go looking for a point next Saturday. We have to compete against a side who are doing particularly well, but we have to win.”

Of course, Swans fans unable to make the trip next Saturday will be able to catch the action on Sky Sports – Kick off is 5.35pm and also the FAW match against Newport is live on BBC2W on Tuesday night “We are live on TV at Newport on Tuesday and live on TV at Rushden next week. It’s a chance to show how good they are, but we must win. We haven’t won two games on the trot since I arrived, so the Newport game is the next step for us” added Flynn.

Flynn was also full of praise for the 5000 supporters that took advantage of the directors cheap admission today “I’ve said all along that the supporters have been magnificent and they were today, they were cheering and they were singing us along. We have to do it together, it works both ways and today they helped us to that win.”

And will be seeing Robert Martinez in time for the Rushden game? ” I spoke to Roberto Martinez this morning and he’ll be travelling back down tomorrow or first thing Monday and hopefully, he’ll be signing then. There’s a lot of things can happen when a player is signing, the important thing is that he should be signing on Monday ! I’d like to keep Kevin until the end of the season as well, but it depends on certain situations. He’s contracted to Orient but we’ll continue to monitor his situation as we go along.”
