Swansea 1 Darlington 0

Rock-bottom Swansea stretched their unbeaten run to three games with a well-deserved victory over Darlington at the Vetch Field.

Kevin Nugent’s fourth goal in as many games since signing on loan from Leyton Orient ensured the Swans are now level on points with second-from-bottom Boston.

Swansea started the first half the brighter, with Roberto Martinez carving open the first chance of the game.

The on-loan Walsall midfielder won the ball on the halfway line and dribbled to the edge of the area before unleashing a fierce shot, which Andrew Collett did well to save.

Just before the break Nugent bundled the ball home to give the Swans the lead against their North-East opponents.

James Thomas wasted a perfect opportunity to extend Swansea’a lead after the break, but with the goal at his mercy the club’s top scorer headed wide.

Darlington’s best chance game midway through the second half when Jamie Wood headed Ian Clark’s header off the line.

Despite a nervous few minutes Swansea hung on to secure all three points.
