Good Day For Flynn

When Evans was stretchered off after nearly five minutes of treatment on Saturday afternoon there were many who feared that this could be another serious injury for the former Barry defender. After missing the end of last season through injury it looked as if we may have a repeat this year but Evans reported fit and raring to go this morning. Physio Richie Evans stated that Evans should be fit for the weekend trip to Hartlepool. Speaking on the official site, Evans said “It was very painful on Saturday night and I did think that it was serious, but it’s eased considerably since then and there’s not really a problem.”

Evans’ potential injury was the only downspot of a great weekend for Flynn. He saw his team look convincing as they beat Cambridge 2-0 with Marc Richards scoring both the goals and it moved them to the ‘heady heights’ of 19th in the table.

And there was more good news with Kevin Nugent finally putting pen to paper to sign for the club until the end of the season. Rumours circulated after Flynn failed to complete the transfer on Saturday with whisperings of an eleventh hour move from Hull for the striker as well as his injury causing the Swansea board concern. Both proved to be unfounded as Nugent signed for the club this afternoon declaring via the official site that there was never a problem There were a couple of little things that we needed to sort out, but it was always going to happen. I’m really pleased that we’ve been able to tie-up everything and I’m delighted that I’ve been able to finalise the move. ” What I’ve got to do now is concentrate on making sure I’m fit for what is a very tough game at Hartlepool at the weekend so that I can be in contention for a place. In fairness, the forwards have done very well in the games I’ve missed so I can’t take it for granted that I’m going to play if fit.

Yes, there’s been interest and I have spoken to a couple of clubs, but that wasn’t this weekend, it was before that. Not long after I’d first come here, when I’d only played a couple of games there were a few enquiries. At the time I didn’t know what my future was, it was just a month’s loan which as far as I knew I was going back to Orient at the end of it, so I listened to what was being said.”

Meanwhile Saturday’s two goal hero Marc Richards is reportedly a transfer target for Cardiff City. The Football Rumours web-site suggests that the Bluebirds have already contacted Blackburn about a potential move during the summer having been impressed with him whilst he has been here. Neither club has reported anything about this transfer.
