Yes it's 1 game and he is not the next mesiah but damn did he delivery on his drive to keep going and added so much more creativity than Grimes. Also in 1 match he showed more leadership and passion that Grimes did on the pitch. Add onto that you had Cabango visibly telling people. Great start. By far we have a lot of improvement to make but let's make this a start of things to come. Side Note, Delcroix played well too.

Nailed it.

He was brilliant. What a difference having a midfielder who wants to do the dirty stuff. I think we've suffered for far too long making allowances for his predecessor on that front.
100%. I'm getting ahead of my self here. But it's clear we have changed elements of how we play without Grimes. Grimes would receive it and he would be sat central in defence and though passing ball in an attractive ways at different angles it never did anything. In 1 match, Lewis had more drive, creativity and passion in 1 match than Grimes. I keep hearing we had to pay Lewis more money to join and he obviously is using us to get more sharp and back to premier league, but if he delivers like that every week then I have 0 problem. Plus he was more out spoken than Grimes and I loved his passion when he defended

Yes it's 1 game but the guy has hardly played and came out of it with pluses.

I would still be looking at getting Allen in there between now and the end of season alongside O'Brien and Franco.

He has a bit of everything didn’t he? Put his foot in, drive forward, defended well.
Much better than the twat we sold to Coventry.
100%. Passion, creativity, saw elements of leadership. He was tiny bit rusty here or there but added something we have been missing. Maybe this is what is needed to start turning things around? We clearly changed the way we played under Grimes and it might take time to adapt. From rumours of very little players saying goodbye to Grimes, it might mean a strange blessing in disguise. I'm getting ahead of myself 1 match does not make us Liverpool. And alot to improve. But I feel Grimes held us down alot. He was praised by every manager and played by nearly all of them. But sometimes change is needed to see what we thought we was doing right.

Dreadful first half, Naughton was outstanding in the first & for the rest of the game. Delcroix & Tymon at the back were good. Playing Ronaldo at right back a very strange decision. He didn't know what to do, but got into it the longer the game went on.

O'Brien is a step up in quality from Grimes, cracking cross for Eom to get the keeper to pull off a save. Always willing to go forward & FIGHT for balls.

Maybe a little lucky for the 3 points based on the first half performance but I'll take that.

Alot of areas to improve. Also to take a little heat of Franco. First season in this mad division and pressure on him to adapt. There is a player there. Just needed support and time.

Loved the passion after the late block. He’s going to be huge for us.

To be fair Naughton played well and I actually feared when Key was coming on. We rided our luck at times and at times we ourselves should of scored more. For a team who has not won in month, a crazy window, captain going and Williams rumours, I'll take this win all day. Build on it, get home and let's get this going again.

Exactly my friend.

I said months ago we needed him gone just to shake us out of our slumber. It's no good having all your play go through one player for the sake of a game plan that only works for about a third of the season. It was killing us.

Different isn't always necessarily better - today might yet turn out to be a false dawn - but at least Grimes leaving has forced us/Williams to try something new, and we've needed to do that for a long time.

Brilliant observation. It might be a false dawn as you said and my emotions are high. But sometimes we need to break up from someone or to change a job let's say to see there is life beyond what we are living and change though scary can sometimes work in our favour.

Wonderful to read this. In the end something had to give. Grimes is a good player in his own right but sometimes you can forget the overall.

Yeah and it not lost on me that Grimes can be good. But it's in my opinion, Grimes has been immune from the cut. He never gets injured and stats have shown in my view a false story. Would you go into Swansea as a Manager and Cut Grimes down and his Captain and role to advance the team? This risks team losing and questioning things. Ie, what is happening now. Personally I get it. But we needed this. It's gonna be painful and time will tell but I do beleive no player should safe from being out of the squad. Grimes was our so called savour and also our worse enemy.
The team is not 1 player it's more than that.

Fair do's I was impressed with him today.

It took him about 30 mins to grow into the game but that time stamp coincided with Bristol losing pretty much all of their offensive threat until like the 75th minute when they hit the post with a long range shot.

He really shone in the second half when he snapped into challenges and dragged up the level of his fellow midfielders.
